About Me

I was born and raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. I received my bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I recently graduated from Northwestern University, where I received a Master of Science in Journalism from the Medill School of Journalism. As a graduate student, I specialized in covering politics, policy and foreign affairs. I am also both honored and grateful to share that I had been awarded a scholarship from the White House Correspondents Association during my time as a student journalist in Washington D.C.

In addition to this, I proudly served in the Army National Guard as a Public Affairs Mass Communications Specialist before I was honorably discharged in 2022.

Now, I am working as a breaking news reporter with the Chicago Sun-Times. I cover a variety of topics, such as crime, politics and local events.

As a journalist of Mexican descent, I hope to share the stories of those whose voices are underrepresented in the media. The lack of perspective on a range of issues has left the public divided and uninformed for far too long. In light of this issue, it is both my privilege and responsibility to help lead and reshape public discussion. While there is much work to do to diversify news coverage, I plan to tackle this problem one story at a time.
